Our Future

Our future is not predetermined by God, it is always up to us to make the daily decisions that will shape our tomorrow. We are only alive in the now or present moment. We have a past, we are in the present, and this allows us to go into our earthly future by each decision we make. Our past can be used to help us not make those decisions that hindered our progress before. Our complete trust needs to be in God who wants us to complete the task He has given each one of us. We are to trust Him as a daddy who only wants to see his children succeed in life ( Mark 14:36, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6 ). The definition of Abba signifies the close, intimate relationship of a father and his child, as well as the childlike trust that a young child puts in his “daddy.”

God is always moving in the now or present, which is always moving into the future, never the past. So we as His children should never stay in our past, but always live in the moment of time we are in, always moving towards the future. Sometimes we make bad choices and we get off the track of life we want to be on. Somehow we missed the sign post because our attention was on something other than God.

Paul stated in Hebrews 12:1, that we are the ones responsible to lay aside every weight that does so easily besets us. Kind of puts us in the drivers seat! Sometimes we are too slow to put away our pet sins, that we kind of like or are comfortable with. You will never stop doing something unless you first come to dislike it or hate it first. This year lets get serious with our race of life that we are in and just go for it. Remember we are our own worst enemies at times. How can we expect to stay on course and reach our goal if we keep playing around with sin. What is sin? Missing the mark and not sharing the prize. Become more competitive this year. If you have any doubt about what is sin for you just do this, When in doubt, throw it out. Simple, but very difficult to us at times.

The best course for each of us is to spend more time daily with God. How do we do this? Read the letters He sent to us (New Testament). As we do this we will be able to renew our minds to His way of thinking. I have heard this scripture used by people and in many movies in my past, Gods thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). Poppy Cock! Stop going into the old testament and trying to apply it to us. You will not find those words in Paul’s letters to the Church. But you will find where he tells us that we are to renew our minds with the word of God (Romans 12:2). We have the mind of Christ (1Corinthians 2:16). Become imitators of God as dear children (1 Corinthians 11:1, Ephesians 5:1-2). All these and more tell us that we can be more than we settle for.

Precious children, I only want you to remember who you are in Christ this new year as you set your goals as we do every year at this time. Just make it a priority to put God first place in every thing you do. Be honest before Him in all things. He knows you better than you do. Trust Him to bless the works of your hands, He wants to more than you realize. Set as your goal to do this one step at a time. Build upon each step, and by years end you will be amazed at how far you have come.

I hope this blog will help you to get back into the race fully convinced that you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) and you can do all things with Gods help (Philippians 4:13). Remember you will make it, just don’t give up.

See you soon. In His service as Kilted Priest.

  1. Thank you, my friend, for the good word today πŸ™‚ There’s too many people out there today that live in the past still. The present is what counts now because we’re never promised tomorrow. We live one day at a time and get into the word more each day, little by little we will understand it.
