Love Of Money

All our problems that we have, local, state, and nation, result from the love of money the grasping for more. Never being satisfied with what we have. When you love something, you want to be around it all the time. You put all your energy into pursuing it, as it becomes the object of your desire, and it commands your complete attention. Therefore it becomes your root, and the root is what produces life.

We read in 1 Timothy 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, pierced themselves through with many sorrows”. This whole chapter is about being faithful to the call and not being led astray by uncertain riches, which will only be a hindrance to your faith. We who are able, are to give of our resources to help those who are less fortunate in the Church body.

The evil comes from the plans you lay as you meditate on the object of your desire. Having produces the craving for more, which is hollow and can never be fulfilled. I remember reading about John D. Rockefeller being asked by someone when he would have enough money. His answer was that he needed just a little more than he had at that time.

As I said in the paragraph above that this desire can never be satisfied, because it is an illusion. Mankind has fought for this power since Adams fall. You can be the poorest man on earth and still be a lover of money. All the lotteries that operate in America know this and they promote big payoffs if you can just be the lucky one to win it. Poor people spend all their meager resources on it and never obtain it. When someone does win, their lives become a living hell, because it was never something they knew how to use correctly to benefit themselves or others. Within five to ten years most lottery winners are broke and full of sorrow, they lost it all.

I have learned much in these last fifty years of life as a Christian. I have seen the rise of PMS in the World and even in the Church. What is PMS? Power, Money, and Sex. These are the very best traps the enemy of God has for all of us. One or more will try and get to the Child of God, and try to trap them.

The love of money will be the driving force to the power, and the power will attract the sex. It does not matter if you are a person of the world or a born again believer. Just look at all the “Media Preachers” we have had in the last 25 years or so. They all teach a good “word”, but their main focus is money, after all it takes money to be able to produce these media shows to promote the Gospel. Really? What gospel are they peddling? Money was not something Jesus needed in the four Gospels, and He never spoke of it in any positive terms.

Why is it so necessary in the Church? I am ashamed of the Church I see today. We have taken the simple message of love and hope in Jesus Christ and turned it into a multi-billion dollar business, that only promotes the “Star” of their show, the man of God or the preacher. There is something wrong with our model, and we need to get back to the basics(The Book of Acts.) This Church was alive with the power of love for each other. We can not even get along with the Church down road from ours, let alone share with them.

Money or wealth is not something we need, but it is something we all strive for in desperation and despair. It is only fueled by our own lust for more. It is just paper that has no value, other than the illusion of what we think it is. Our Father has said in Philippians 4:19, that He will supply all our need by His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

My biggest concern is that preachers are getting rich and becoming millionaires that hoard all the wealth, when there is such need in the body of Christ, the Church. This applies mainly to the media preachers, but it can be applied locally also. When you have a surplus above what you have need of, then we are to share it with others in the body of Christ. In Acts 2:14 and 4:32, they shared and had all things in common. Not socialism, but love for each other.

They did not go out and build great buildings to share the Gospel in. They did not need to because their love for each other spoke louder than bricks and stones. Please do not become trapped by this “gospel of greed”. It is time to live the Gospel, and leave religion behind for the lost to play with. Let them see that this Jesus we have, is really alive and ready to deliver them from religion to life in Him.

God is not against any of us having things, but we are not to allow these things to own us. When we understand that things do not belong to us, and that we are only using them for a short time, then we will be able to share with our brethren the things God has given us. If we can just renew our minds (Romans 12:2) to Gods way of thinking, then His thoughts will truly become our thoughts and His ways will become ours. Remember love is the key to life.

I hope I have done a good job explaining the love of money. Please keep your eyes on Jesus, and always remember, You will make it, just don’t give up. See you soon.
