Dead Man Walking

Sometime ago, as I was thinking on the Lord, I got to wondering what will we do when we get home to Heaven. Will we be filled with wonder, amazement, shock, or what? Then it occurred to me that if we really know that Heaven is for real, then it should not be so shocking or filled with wonder and amazement. The Word of God plainly informs us that we are now seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). We are now children of The King (1 John 3:2). We are joint heirs with Christ Jesus, now, not later (Romans 8:17).

Why has the “Organized Church” not taught this? It would make a tremendous change in the “Real Church”, the body of Christ, the believers who follow the King of Kings. If we know who we are, then we will act like it. Sin, sickness, poverty, lack, want, all belong to the world. The child of God should never have to live the way the world does. Let me make a comparison for you.

A Royal child knows who they are. Why? They are taught who they are from birth. They know what they will become, what their inheritance is, and what belongs to them. They also understand authority and the use of power.

Why do we as children of God, believers in Christ Jesus, allow the dead man out of the grave (Romans 6)? As believers in the Word of God, we are to accept the Word of God as written, and stake our very lives upon it. It is the Word of God, and it is alive and abides for ever (Hebrews 4:12).

We are the ones who try to live as dead men walking. When are we going to put the old man in the grave where he belongs? As Christians we are commanded to put off the old man and his deeds (Ephesians 4:22). We are reminded to not lie to ourselves, and allow sin to try and revive the old man (Ephesians 3:9). The old mans deeds are carnal and always will be. Our human nature is not perfect, only our spirit is, as it has been born in Gods image, and Gods seed is in it (1 John 3:9).

We sin on a continual basis in our soul and body, just by being human and living on this earth. But our spirit is born of God and can not, and will not sin. I know this is contrary to what the “Organized Church” teaches, but read what Johns letter has to say about the subject. Don’t take what anyone else has to say. God is the one who wrote it, just believe it.

What caused Adam to sin and die spiritually? He lived out of his spirit and disobeyed Gods word, “ do not eat of the tree of knowledge”. He chose to eat and the result was sin and death, to himself and us. So to use this logic, if we sin out of our spirit, which has Gods seed in it, then we too would be doomed. But thank God, our spirit has been sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). Our spirit can not and will not sin, as it is born of God.

The apostle Paul wrote in (Romans 7) that the things he wanted to do, he did not do, and the things he did not want to do, he did. How did he get out of this mess? He allowed the Holy Spirit to change his thinking, which was corrupted, and he renewed his mind with the Word of God. He became a changed man and he put the old man in the grave where he belonged. Remember the battle is in our minds, our will, and emotions.

Renew your mind with the Word of God and your soul will come around to reunite with your spirit and prevail against the body of flesh, as you allow the Holy Spirit to make the necessary corrections in your life and thinking. He is our teacher and guide to the Word of God.

We are reminded to think on these things, truth, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report (Philippians 4:8). Not the news on TV, or the internet, but the Good News of the Gospel.

Remember this, keep your eyes on Jesus and the goal ahead. You will make it, just don’t give up. See you next week.
