What Makes A Christian Successful?

This is a question that has the potential to free each of us from the grasp of the evil one. Much has been written about who we are in Jesus over the last fifty years. Has it produced the results that those writers desired? Yes and no would be the right answer in my opinion. I believe they were sincere in their undertaking to help us become who God wants us to be. But the Church as a whole, has not embraced this subject as well as it should have.

Just what does it take for us to walk in the supernatural realm where we belong? Confidence! Being assured that what we do, is what our Father wants us to do. (John 5:19) How do we get this kind of confidence? Believing the Word of God is what it says it is, or in other words, if God said it, I believe it, and act upon it by faith!

There are three things we need to do to become confident as a Christian. Ask, Believe, and Receive. Simple right? Again our answer has to yes and no. When we ask or pray to our Father, are we confident that He hears us? Let’s look at a few scriptures in the New Testament for our confidence boosters.

Luke 11:9-13 Jesus tells his disciples that if they ask they will receive, period.

Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus tells his disciples that if they ask they will receive, period.

John 16:23-24 Jesus once again reminds them that they will get what they ask for in his name.

I think three scriptures are more than enough for it to be considered doctrine and a viable truth. The problem we have as modern Christians is that we are not taught this by our church leaders. Another reason is that it has to be according to the will of God, not our fleshly desires. Use your concordance to find more on this subject, as I have just given you the basics.

To receive you just have to believe that God will grant you what you ask for. Sounds simple right? But this is very difficult for us modern day believers who have been trained since birth to believe if we see it first. Whereas the scriptures require us to believe first, then we will see it! (1 John 5:14)

I want to show you or explain to you that confidence in Jesus and his word will produce this victorious life we all want to live. I struggle with life just as you do, but my confidence in Gods word never changes. It is what I believe, and I look forward to finishing my race to the best of my ability.

Who are we? Are we really what Gods word says we are? Are we really Gods children by our faith in Jesus, Gods only begotten Son? Yes, of course we are! Let me show you how blessed we are. This scripture spoken by Jesus should set your feet to dancing, John 17:20- “neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.” This seventeenth chapter of John is a prayer that our Lord Jesus prayed to His Father just before he was to be sacrificed for our sins. Do you think his prayers were answered by God? Of course they were and they are still being answered today and will be until the end of time.

One more scripture I want you to read is one after his resurrection as he was speaking to Thomas, the doubter. John 20:29- “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” Jesus calls us blessed because we believe the written words spoken by his disciples as they wrote the New Testament as given them by Holy Spirit.

So who are we really? The word of God clearly tells us we are children of God, John 1:12, Romans 8:16, and many other New Testament scriptures that calls us sons of God. Just take some time and look them up and I believe you will be amazed.

Now that we know we are children of God just what is the function or purpose of a child? As a child you will try to imitate your parents, so a child of God should try to be an imitator of God as the scriptures plainly tells us in Ephesians 5:1. This alone is almost beyond our human comprehension. There are many other scriptures that inform us that we are to grow and mature in our spirit just as we do as humans.

Do you think if we understand who we are that this alone could make us successful? I believe so, but I know it takes a lot to retrain our human thinking and this is why the Bible clearly explains to us that we are to renew our minds to think like God. (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23, 2 Corinthians 10:5, Philippians 4:8)

Now that we know we are children of God what else should we know that gives us purpose in this life here on planet earth? We are called a Royal Race, a peculiar people in Revelation 5:10, and 1 Peter 2:9. The organized church has done a wonderful job keeping this little known fact from us. Why? My personal opinion is that it threatens to make us all equal as children of God, and this would make them less powerful and controlling.

As humans, we are all subject to PMS! Yes, even as Christians. What do I mean by PMS? Let me explain. There are three things that our enemy use to control and manipulate all humans, besides deception. They are Power, Money, Sex. These are weaknesses we all have as humans. The only way we can escape these very strong temptations is to renew our minds with the scriptures, so we can think like God.

I want to finish this letter today by reminding all of my brethren that we are priest by our new birth, when we first believed. Now what is the job or purpose of a priest? The definition of a priest is ministry, love, intercession, access to Gods throne, authority and reconciliation.

A priest then is one who acts as a mediator between man and God. Jesus is our mediator (1 Timothy 2:5) between God and mankind, and as priest we are supposed to be ministers of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18)

This is our main purpose in this life as a Christian Priest, telling those who are still at war with God, that peace has been restored between them and God, by Jesus Christ. That all is well between them and God, and all they need to do is accept what Jesus has done for them.

I hope this letter explains what it takes for us to be successful as Christians and helps give you purpose in this life here on planet earth, and shows you the importance of being a priest. Keep the faith in unity and peace, show everyone the act of love as you continue your race towards home. Always remember, you will make it, just don’t give up.

See you next time as we study Gods word together.
