The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak in season to him that is weary, he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. Isaiah 50:4 KJV
The Lord God has given me the tongue of disciples and those who are taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary; He wakens me morning by morning, He wakens my ear to hear as disciples, as those who are taught. Amplified Bible
I am using these scriptures to help you understand that God is the one who gives us the knowledge we need to live in this fallen world of which we are born into. I want you to realize that our Father God, will give us all the knowledge we need, and all we have to do is ask for it, and receive it by faith. (James 1:5)
In other words we only need to use our spiritual ears to hear His voice, and we can have the learned tongue of the teacher, if we allow Him to teach us first! I am ashamed that it took me almost 50 years to write down my own thoughts of what the Bible was saying yo me. I almost always took notes like a student, but it was always someone else’s opinion, never my own. This is good, but it doesn’t show you what you really know. We are all born into the faith as new born babes, needing the milk of the Gods word. (1 Peter 2:2)
But then we are expected to grow up and become men of faith and responsible to handle the word of God skillfully and wisely. (1 Timothy 2:15) Our physical bodies are wearing out daily, but our inward man, the real person that we don’t know as well as we should, is being renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18) The Bible tells us to be like little children in our faith, but not to be childish or immature. Children just trust, and are they are innocent. Our God has promised to restore the years the world has destroyed, (Joel 2:25) or that which has been lost. He did not promise to restore your years in real time, but the lost or wasted blessings and the unripened fruits which you have mourned over.
Our bodies are suffering the effects of time, but our spirit is eternal, whether we are born again or not. The Bible says that He will quicken our mortal bodies, or make alive our physical bodies, and that is here and now, on this earth. (Romans 8:11) This includes healing, health, strength, vitality of life, and all we have to do is read and apply His words of life to our ears and believe it to be so.
Our tongue is the key to everything, it is our choice on how you use it. (James 3:6) You will have what you say, whether it’s good or bad. You have to retrain your tongue, if you want to use it to bring honor to your God, and that can only be accomplished by renewing your mind with the words that He has spoken. (Romans 12:2) Or in other words reading your Bible and applying them to your life.
It isn’t not something you will accomplish over night. It takes time to reprogram your mind from the worlds way to Gods way. When your daily diet includes the news of disasters and wars and all the negative things they love to report on, you will be feeding your mind on the worlds way, but if you turn that off and replace it with Gods words of life you will begin to reprogram your thinking to life and not death. The Bible tells us that there will be wars and rumors of war till Jesus returns. God is in control so you may as well relax and trust Him.
I have not listened to the so called news for so many years I do not remember the last time. Has it affected my life? Nope, it goes on whether I listen to it or not. The Bible tells us to pray for those who are in power over us (1 Timothy 2:1-4) that we may live a quiet and peaceable life. In other words be at peace, knowing your God will take care of you, in spite of life around you.
We as Christians need to become more aware of the realness of God, and His amazing love for us, in spite of us being so selfish and cruel to each other. We need to be still and know He is God. (Psalms 46:10) Our Lord Jesus always looked to His Father for instructions and always did as instructed by God. We can too, but it takes a lot of study, prayer, compassion, and commitment, and spending time with God daily. These things listed in the next paragraph, are things our Lord did, and we are to be just like Him.
Feed the hungry. Clothe the naked. Visit the widow, and the orphans. Visit the ones in jail. Lift up the broken hearted. Teach and preach the kingdom of heaven. Set the captive free. Proclaim the good news that God loves us all and He is coming soon to take those who believe in His son Jesus home. These are all some things that you can do if you are willing to be like Jesus and are looking for something to do because you’re bored.
I do hope this short letter has allowed you to see that what you study the most, comes out of your mouth, because it’s what you believe. We all need improvement, and it will only come, if you study the words of God daily. You really never know what you believe, until you write it down as a daily study habit or lifestyle. I spent over 50 years copying someone else’s opinions. Now I have my own, based on my own studies of Gods word. You can get so involved in studying the Bible, that time will pass so quickly, you will be amazed, wondering where the time went. I will leave you with this comment that I write in every letter. Remember, you will make it, just don’t give up. See you next week, as we study Gods word together.
