Do Christians Lie? Part 3

Back in 2021 I wrote on Christian lies and touched on several major lies the “Church” has been guilty of and today I want to continue with this subject that has deceived Gods people by those who should know better. In my first study on lies I laid the groundwork for the definition of a lie according to Mr. Webster and the Bible. Then my second study was about the three lies of misinformation that I consider to be damaging to the people of God, Praying, Scripture, and Tithing.

I covered Tithing and Scripture in that study. Please look them up and read them in the order I wrote them. Now today I want to cover the third one on Praying. How can praying even be considered a lie? Good question, and I hope to cover it in today’s letter. As I have said before, I do not believe that any of these lies are committed intentionally, but by people who have been taught wrongly by their teachers.

What or how can praying ever be a lie? Whenever we listen to someone pray or even if we pray ourselves, and it is not a scripture based prayer, prayed in faith, then it becomes a lie or as Jesus puts it in (Matthew 6:7-8) don’t pray with useless, repeating words that sound good but are useless, meant to impress those who are listening. Prayer is supposed to be a conversation with God, or a petition to Him on behalf of another or even for yourself as you tell Him your wants, desires, and needs.

But how can a person’s prayers be a deception? I think it can be when it is prayed and nothing happens. I will use James 5:14 as an example. This scripture is used by the “Church” as their grounds on Gods will to heal. In that they are right on! But, when this prayer is prayed and the person does not get healed, then it was not a prayer of faith prayed by the person that did the praying. This then becomes the “lie” to the person on the receiving end. Poppycock, you say?

I am not alone in my interpretation of this scripture. John Lake (1870-1935) said the same thing. He taught his students to stay with the person and keep praying until they prayed the prayer of faith and the person was healed. They were not allowed to return or leave the person until that person was healed by God in response to the prayer of faith by them!

I hope you as a child of God will pay more attention to your words that come out of your mouth every day and realize just how important it is to speak the truth. The truth I am talking about is that your words line up with Gods word or else you are telling a lie. Either to yourself or others, and a good example is that lie that says “It’s just driving me crazy.” You are telling yourself a lie as Gods word says you have the mind of Christ. I know we don’t really mean it but over time you start to believe it as your words are powerful.

Just keep going and always remember, you will make it, just don’t give up. See you next week as I once again write about the tithe according to Gods Word and not man’s.
