I believe the Bible is a road map for our destination back home. The more we read and study it the clearer our directions become. So today I want to do a small ramble on salvation for you to read and study. Jesus has once and for all dealt with the sin problem. God is not intimidated by our sins and how much of a problem we are, but the new birth puts us under Gods care and the Bible tells us that what he started in us he will also finish it. (Philippians 1:6)
The word of God is very clear what sin is and even spells some of them out in Paul’s letters in detail which ones God hates (Colossians 3:5-9, 1 Corinthians 9-10). The danger we all face lies in the area of our dismissing sin and not trying to distance ourselves from it. The new birth puts us in Gods care but we have to allow Holy Spirit to slowly and sometimes quickly to remove harmful sin from us.
When we fall into sin we have the tendency to turn away from God which is totally the reverse of what we should do. Run to God not from him. Jesus is our refuge, and he has dealt with sin once and for all time at the cross. Forgiveness is a free gift, but we have to receive it sometimes by faith.
The new birth should bring about a change in behavior and if it does not bother you to sin you need to find out why. Sin is missing the mark, disrespecting Gods gift to us, Jesus. I don’t mean being overtaken by sin, but the sin of commission without any fight from within. We are more than conquerors by the word of our testimony and the blood of the Lamb.
The new birth should be the evident to anyone who knew us before we met Jesus. Everything about us starts to change immediately. But our complete change will take us the rest of our natural lives. By constant contact with God we become more like him as we read and study his Word. Disobedience causes us to become not useful to his purposes.
The new birth is free and forever. No strings attached. Just believe. We do not need revival without reformation. We must allow ourselves to be reformed. You will never give up what you do not dislike. The pleasure of sin is very real, but it is counterproductive for a close walk with God in our own garden of life. This was the first sin and it is the continuation of that sin “pleasure” for over six thousand years.
All God has ever wanted was fellowship with the people he had created in the beginning and still holds true today (Genesis 3:8). Adam had it but lost it. Jesus got it back and has given it to us freely. True fellowship and worship is walking and talking with God as in the garden of Eden. This is what God wants. A father-child relationship.
I hope this ramble has been useful to each person who reads this old priest letter of some useful wisdom. God will always be standing there right beside us, ever ready to pick us up when we fall. All of should have this attitude, I am always up or I am getting up, for I am never down for the count.
Remember you will make it, just don’t give up. Life is very hard, but it only last a very short time. You are in Gods care never forget that please. You are in my prayers and remember I love each of you and look forward to meeting each person who has been part of this ministry that has been read in 21 nations around the world at last count.
