Who are we according to the Word of God? This question seems to be one the “organized church” is not asking or preaching about. We are living on this earth like self-made orphans. We have no thought of who we really are in Gods sight.
I remember a time back in the seventies that the main teaching was called “In Him”. It did not last long enough to make a great difference in the Church. I believe it was overtaken by the “prosperity” teaching that appealed to our human greed. Preachers became multi millionaires and lost sight of reality in the Gospel message.
If you will take time to sit down and read through the New Testament, and underline all the “In Him” scriptures, you will find out who you really are in Him. I may do a blog on it later. But, back to my main question, who are we?
We get sick, we are defeated, we are depressed, we are broke, we lose our peace, we get angry or upset with someone or something. Brethren, these things are carnal and just like the world.
We are supposed to be a peculiar people (1 Peter 2:9). What is peculiar? Mr. Webster explains it this way: to be different from the usual or normal.
Gods Spirit lives within us. This is supposed to make us different from the unsaved people we are in constant contact with, or else our witness has lost its savor (Matthew 5:13). We see through a glass darkly ( 1 Corinthians 13:12), we seldom see the potential we really have as Gods children. I don’t know about you, but this Priest is tired of being this kind of carnal Christian and I want to do something about it.
Let me tell you a story I heard many years ago. I will condense it so it does not get to be too long. There was a woman who worked for a Queen all her life. She loved her Queen and enjoyed her work. The years passed and she became too old to work, and decided to retire. When her last day came, the Queen gave her a piece of paper with the Royal Seal upon it. She treasured it and hung the document on her wall.
She continued to live on her small retirement pension, but life was hard, and she barely had enough to live on. She was uneducated and could not read. But right there on the wall was this small piece of Royal paper, which in reality was a certificate from the Crowns Treasury, endowing her with riches, and all she had to do was cash it in.
Does this sound familiar? We have Gods promises, which are recorded in the Word of God, and all we have to do is believe them and cash them in with our faith. God promises us health, joy, peace, prosperity, long life and good things to help us live a victorious, joy filled life, here on this earth. The Word of God is alive, and it is His will for us to enjoy life, and be a Royal race of people, now and in the future also.
It seems such a waste of our lives to live as Christians without realizing who we are, right now on this earth. What can I do to help change the thinking of the modern Church? Can I, the kilted priest, really make a difference?
These are questions I had before, and then one day as I was thinking about nothing, the Lord dropped these words on me, ” Kilted Priest”. This blog is the result, and it is the tool that the Lord is allowing me to use to make a difference in someone’s life.
We are a Royal Priesthood, an Holy nation, a Peculiar people, which in time past were not a people, but now are the people of God (1 Peter 2:9,10). This is the Word of God about you, about me, and all those who name the name of Jesus! We are all Royalty, and we are all Priest unto God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let me explain one thing about our Priesthood. A few weeks ago I was talking with someone and they asked me what kind of Priest I was. I explained I was a Priest according to 1 Peter 2: 5,9 and Revelation 1:9, 5:10, and 20:6. I could tell he was not impressed by his comment and the look on his face. The Word of God was not that impressive to him, or convincing enough as would be a Seminary degree. How sad that the Word of God has such low impact upon someone. It is more sure than anything man can do or give. It is the Word of God written to each of us. Why are we so impressed with a man made degree? Most Seminaries I know of could be called cemeteries with the powerless preachers they turn out by the thousands.
Christianity is not a religion that needs to be learned. It is a way of life in Christ Jesus, that has to be experienced by the new birth and allow Jesus to live through us. Within us is the power of God just waiting on us to dare to use it (Acts 3:6).
All Christians are Priest, no one is any higher than any other priest. All of us have our own particular gifts. What I want to do for you, is to awaken your particular gift or gifts. Wake up out of your religious slumber, and find out what your gift is and put it to use in your own ministry of reconciliation.
Remember, you will make it, just don’t give up. See you next week.
